The nature of a repressed emotion is that on some level it becomes psychic (“mindy”). And then we project our repressed psychic fear, anger, hatred, lack, love, etc. onto others. It is because an emotion couldn’t be felt (i.e., couldn’t be processed) during a traumatic experience or relationship that it became a “missing experience.”
When we cannot give space to an emotion and repress it and it becomes psychic, then we will continue to subconsciously project it onto certain people and situations – trying to ‘fill’ the missing -emotional- experience.
As long as there is a missing emotional experience, we get triggered, and we project, creating the same circle of repressed somatic experience. Same projection, same people, same situation (subconsciously recreating the past to protect ourselves).
The key is to reconnect the body and psyche (mind) through somatic processing. To make all those images and words of the past stuck in the psyche conscious, so our emotions can relax in the body. But we have to know how to bring up and release the (past) thoughts attached to the emotions, to open the lock between body and mind.
Once we start to open that lock and release the thoughts, our psyche is less and less fixated on the past images. It merges into the present moment experience by letting go of the thoughts and feeling the previously unfelt emotions.
Through this pure feeling of emotion, the psychic projection stops, the thoughts fall away, and our minds can finally rest in the experience of the present moment.
When there is no unconscious activity, there is no missing (emotional) experience.
A lot of love, compassion, patience, and understanding is needed during this deprogramming process because we went through a lot.
And by giving this to ourselves and doing the somatic processing…
…all lands in the lap of awareness.
