Anger, Fear and Taking Action

When you are angry, be completely angry, consciously angry, letting the entire energy of it fill the room and the universe, without controlling, labeling or trying to fix it. Let its energy burn up in the vastness of presence. See how long it lasts. See whether it is a problem. To love anger this consciously is to steal its ability to hurt others with it. Nothing about being this conscious stops you from taking necessary action. In fact, it can help you take action with a whole new level of clarity.

Notice that the anger comes from an unexamined fear.  You are angry because you are afraid.

When you become conscious of this underlying fear, be completely fearful, consciously fearful, letting the entire energy of it fill the room and the universe, without controlling, labeling or trying to fix it. Let its energy burn up in the vastness of presence. See how long it lasts. See whether it is a problem. To love fear this consciously is to steal its ability to rob you of your freedom in life.  Nothing about being this conscious stops you from taking necessary action. In fact, it can help you take action with a whole new level of clarity.

If you tell me that you need anger or fear in order to take action in your life, you are telling me that you have never truly rested with anger and fear in this way, never inhabited these emotions so consciously that you have seen their insubstantial nature. You are telling me that you are afraid to live, afraid to die, afraid to love and afraid to feel.  You are telling me that you are angry at everything in the universe that triggers this deep fear within you.  You are telling me that your actions are unexamined and your emotions are unconscious.  For this reason, I cannot trust you as a guide on how to take action in life.
